Dominik Noll is a Ph.D. student and researcher at the Institute of Social Ecology, University of Natural Resources and Life Sciences, Vienna, Austria. His research is concerned with the environmental implications of the sociometabolic transformation of rural, agriculturally shaped Mediterranean regions (islands) in the course of industrialisation. Applying a stock driven approach, he specialises in the assessment of environmental pressures associated with the dynamics of the built environment and livestock systems. As sociometabolic research conducted on a low regional scale applies similar conceptual approaches for urban and rural regions, there is a strong connection of his research to urban sustainability.
