Description of what the network is about

100RC supports the adoption and incorporation of a view of resilience that includes not just the shocks—earthquakes, fires, floods, etc.—but also the stresses that weaken the fabric of a city on a day to day or cyclical basis. Established in 2013, 100 Resilient Cities aims to help cities around the globe to become more resilient not just to climate change but also stressors such as unemployment and violence. The program provides cities with four resources: (1) financial and logistical support to establish a new position in city government, a chief resilience officer, who will lead the cities adaptation efforts; (2) support to develop a resilience strategy or adaptation plan; (3) assistance developing a local network of private and NGO partners to help develop and implement resilience strategies; and (4) membership in a global network of cities.

Societal Problem they want to address

100RC aims to address both climate change and societal stressors (earthquakes, fires, floods, unemployment, violence etc.)
