Description of what the network is about

On June 22, 2016, the Compact of Mayors and the Covenant of Mayors announced the Global Covenant of Mayors for Climate & Energy, a newly merged initiative to bring these two efforts together.The Global Covenant of Mayors for Climate and Energy is an international coalition of cities and local governments promotes actions to combat climate change and move to a more sustainable economy. This will be achieved through organizing and mobilizing cities to encourage active contributions to climate change solutions, developing a network to support cities and local governments, supporting local solutions and strategic action plans, and emphasizing climate mitigation and adaptation through clean energy access.
